Woman's Refuge Redesign

Women’s Refuge is a New Zealand-based Not for Profit organization. The goal of the organization is to support women in violent relationships that need help. We were tasked to re-design their website to make it more accessible for people that need their help.

This project had two objectives: learn to work in a group environment, and learn responsive web design. I gained the most out of this project in my second year because I had to build effective communication methods with my teammates, and make my designs accessible by other designers.

Why Woman's Refuge?

To fit the brief, our project had to be a New Zealand based Not for Profit organization (NGO). After doing research on a few, we found that the Woman's Refuge website could do with some work.

After our own experience, and later our user testing, we found that the site was a bit difficult to navigate and parts of it could be condensed much more efficiently. We also thought that the organization had a strong impact within NZ, and that their call to action (Gift a Safe Night) is a compelling movement.
