Kindred App Case Study

For a second year university project, we were tasked to design from the perspective of the Maori (native people of New Zealand) by implementing their knowledge into an application or product design.  The final hand-in was an Exegesis document. For this project, I chose to create a medical application concept.

The goal of the project was to conduct an in-depth research & user research analysis, as well as create a comprehensive design outcome that reflected the view of the Maori.

This project helped me refine my design process to become more linear and coherent. I created methods to save a lot of time while designing.

What is the Kindred App?

There are many families across the world that have family members that they don’t speak to much. Many of these members are older, and struggle to keep in contact with the rest of their family on a regular basis. They also have health concerns, and the lack of contact can make future medical issues worse.

Kindred is a concept app that aims to solve the issue of communication between family members regarding their medical issues. It achieves this through multiple ways. These include, but are not limited to, an in-built family chat feature, access to family medical records, and appointment management with doctors.
